Chris Briton selected as Green PCC Candidate

We are delighted to announce that former Green Mayor of Wells, and City Councillor Chris Briton has been selected as the Green Party candidate for the up-and-coming Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner election on Thursday, 5th May 2016.

We need to raise a staggering £5000 (!) in order for Chris to be able to stand… which, in Chris’s own words is “an outrageously huge sum of money, and only allows rich individuals or wealthier parties to contest the election… In my view that’s undemocratic!

If you would like to support Chris, please visit our Crowdfunder page HERE

The new Glastonbury & Street Green Party

West Mendip Green Party has now budded into two local parties!

For Wells, Shepton, and the surrounding areas, the party is ‘Mendip Hills’.

For Glastonbury, Street, and the surrounding areas, the party is ‘Glastonbury and Street’

As a result we will soon be moving to a new website at www.gsgp.org.uk – but we will be keeping the content of this site as an archive and redirecting the WMGP domain name to the new website!  So, if you have any pages bookmarked you will be redirected to the home page of the new website.

We also have a new email address, which is info@gsgp.org.uk

It’s taken a while to complete the budding process and we wish all the best to our colleagues in Mendip Hills Green Party and look forward to working with them into the future.

Greens For Europe

On 23rd June 2016, every one of us has an equal vote in the referendum, and an equal chance to have a say in the future of our country.

The Green Party wants Britain to remain a part of the EU because we believe that we flourish when we work together on the shared challenges we face.

In a fast-changing world we need international rules to control big business and finance, and to ensure that people’s rights are protected – at work and as consumers.  The EU has also given us the freedom to live, study, work and retire across an entire continent.

The EU helps us look after our environment too.  It’s only by working with our European neighbours that we can tackle climate change, protect wildlife and reduce pollution.  Thanks to EU rules, our beaches are cleaner, and our dirtiest power stations are being shut down.

If you agree please sign our Petition for a Greener Europe.
